Canon India aims Rs 1,100 cr turnover in 2010

"We grew by 28 per cent last year. We had set goal for Rs 840 crore, but did Rs 842 crore," Director Consumer System Products Division V P Sajeevan told reporters here today. From the state of Kerala, Canon was aiming at Rs 55 crore turnover as against last year"s Rs 36 crore, he said. Canon will be launching Image centres in five cities in Kerala --Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kozhikode by April this year, for which investments are yet to be finalised. E-Governance in Kerala has not kicked off on expected lines so far, while in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu it has been launched successfully. The transparency levels in government offices in those states are very high, he said. The implementation of various e-governance projects would mean there is huge potential for IT products in the state, he said, adding "we have huge expectations from Kerala". Despite recession, Canon India had recruited personnel and launched 88 new products last year.
