Markets open in the green

The markets have resumed their upmove after retreating on Monday. The Sensex has again crossed the 17k mark to 17,045, higher by 62 points, and the Nifty is at 5,090, up 23 points. Metals, energy and realty stocks are in the limelight. - Markets sustain gains - Markets open in the green - Markets likely to open on a flat note - Asian markets trade soft - US markets end mixed - Markets begin week in red; metals, Reliance drag Sensex Metal stocks have rebounded after the previous day"s correcton. Hindalco is trading higher by Rs 3 or 2.1% at Rs 145 and Tata Steel has strengthened by Rs 6 or 1.1% at Rs 562. Bharti Airtel has conntinued from where it left, gaining an additional Rs 3 or 1% at Rs 319. Sterlite, M&M and Tata Motors are the other notable gainers. Among the losers, ONGC has shed 0.4% at Rs 1,178, Reliance Communications has lost 0.4% at Rs 175 and HDFC Bank has weakened by 0.3% at Rs 1,790. Out of 1,641 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1,159 advancing stocks as against 38 declines.
