Sensex in red in early trades

Markets have dropped again. The Sensex is now down 213 points at 16,567. US markets ended flat on Wednesday ahead of a US Federal Reserve policy decision Asian markets are mostly in green. The Hang Seng has added 42 points to 20,151. The Nikkei has advanced 30 points to 10,356. All major indices are in red. The bankex has dropped 1.6% to 9,541. The BSE realty, IT, metal and auto indices have slipped around 1% each. Banking shares have dropped in opening trades. ICICI Bank and SBI have declined 2.4% each to Rs 811 and Rs 2,045, respectively. Metal stocks are also weak. Hindalco has shed 1.3% at Rs 157. Sterlite and Tata Steel have slipped 1% each to Rs 793 and Rs 605, respectively. DLF has dropped 1.3% to Rs 340. Sun Pharma, Wipro, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever have also dipped in red. ONGC, TCS, Grasim, Mahindra & Mahindra are the other losers in the market today.

ING Vysya net up 16 per cent
Bangalore-based private sector lender ING Vysya Bank on Thursday reported a 16 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 60.6 crore for the third quarter ended December 2009 compared with the year-ago period. Its operating profit was up 37 per cent to Rs 145.8 crore.
